You can defeat both forms of Godfrey by dodging his attacks and removing his health. There are two phases in this fight. You will start the fight with Godfrey, the First Elden Lord. Once you get down to half of his health, his second phase will begin. In the second phase, you will fight Godfrey Hoarah Loux Warrior. Below are all the movements in its two phases that you should take into account.

Godfrey First Elden Lord moves

• Jump and Throw Axe: He will jump towards you and throw his ax towards you in an attempt to split you in half. You can dodge this attack by rolling under the attack or running towards the spot where he jumped from.
• 3-Slash Combo: Will make two diagonal slashes, one from the left and one from the right. Finally, it will make a horizontal bar.

There are two ways to beat Godfrey using cheese in Elden Ring.

• Mage Characters: Use Mimic Tear Ashes of War to summon your spirit clone. Let him attack up close while you can go back and use the Rock Sling or Comet Azur spells. Go over the spells until you eliminate it.
• Melee Characters: Melee characters can burn Godfrey First Elden Lord and Hoarah Loux Warrior by shielding all attacks using a Greatshield. You can use any Greatshield of your choice as all of its attacks are physical and do not deal status damage. You can also equip the Green Turtle Talisman and use the Barricade ash of war shield. While this method isn't exactly cheese, but using this technique you can greatly negate almost all of his attacks.
